Ophelia is an MSc student under the supervision of Drs. Nicoletta Faraone and Kirk Hillier. She recently completed her Honours in Biology, wherein she researched the neurophysiological response of Cx. territans mosquitoes to the volatiles of frogs infected with Hepatozoon parasites, primarily through gas chromatography-electroantennography (GC-EAD). Her Master’s project aims to characterize the neurophysiological mechanisms of repellency in ticks using integrated electrophysiological (electrotarsography and single-sensillum recording) and behavioral approaches. Ophelia has a passion for vector biology and disease research, as well as herpetology, entomology, and pathogenic microbiology.
